If your Cricut didn't update to a compatible version, repeat the update process by going to HELP > Update Cricut Firmware. Some customers have to do this several times before the update is applied. After each update attempt, be sure to turn your Cricut off and back on, and restart your computer to refresh your settings.

Try running Sure Cuts A Lot in XP Compatibility mode. To do this:

1. Right-click the "Sure Cuts A Lot.exe" file and choose Properties from the context menu that appears. The default location is "C:\Program Files\Craft Edge\Sure Cuts A Lot" or "C:\Program Files (x86)\Craft Edge\Sure Cuts A Lot"

2. Select the Compatibility tab and enable "Run this program in compatibility mode for:", and choose "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)"

3. Install the USB driver. Within Sure Cuts A Lot, select Help > Install Driver. Turn your Cricut off and back on, and restart your computer for the driver to load.
4. Make sure your USB cable from your Cricut is connected directly to a port on your PC and not a USB hub or USB port on another device such as your monitor or keyboard. If it is connected directly, try a different USB cable and a different USB port on your PC. Different USB ports have different power ratings and non-compliant USB cables will not work.
5. Make sure you have a Cricut cartridge installed. Any cartridge will work. Cricut does a self check and will not cut without one.
6. Reboot your computer. Turn your Cricut off and back on. Launch Sure Cuts A Lot and try to make a cut.
